The DVD ‘Fibromyalgia: Show Me Where It Hurts’ has won a 2007 Bronze Telly Award in the US. The 37-minute film, recently shown at a West Berks group meeting, won in the Health and Wellness category and is the first known entry (let alone winner!) to address the topic of fibromyalgia.
‘Show ME Where It Hurts’ features Dr. Patrick Wood, Chief Medical Advisor for the US National Fibromyalgia Association and a nationally recognized researcher and authority on the cause and treatment of fibromyalgia, and discusses his Dopamine Theory of Fibromyalgia. It also features Dr. Andrew Holman, who has been studying the use of dopamine agonist Pramipexole for Fibromyalgia.
The US National Fibromyalgia Association has reported Dr. Wood responding by saying:
“The award was a nice affirmation for a lot of hard work”… “I think the audience really connected with the mixture of technical information and the personal stories.”
This was certainly the reaction I found, with Fibromites identifying closely with patients’ descriptions of Fibrmyalgia and what it is like to with in the film.
The 28th Annual Telly Awards received a record number of entries from acorss the US and around the world, making it even more impressive that a film on Fibromyalgia won an award. The Telly is the premier US award honoring outstanding local, regional, and cable TV commercials and programs, the finest film and video productions, and groundbreaking web commercials, videos and films.
